FACES OF RESCUE
January to July 2010

<--

Meet the lucky Cairn Terriers brought into the Col. Potter Cairn Rescue Network in 2010. This is our sixth year to have a comprehensive listing of all terriers accepted by our rescue group. Our ability to rescue this tremendous amount of Cairns is ONLY due to the hard but rewarding work of our many Volunteers as well as your financial support of our Cairn Rescue Mall, Corporate Affiliate Programs, Grandparent and Guardian Angel Programs as well as the many Direct Donations with which you have been so generous. Thank you from all of us.

IMPORTANT - The dogs on this page are not necessarily available for adoption. If you have applied to adopt a cairn from CPCRN, ONLY the dogs listed on the AVAILABLE CAIRNS page are currently available for adoption.

This foster dog pictorial is to show ALL dogs that passed through CPCRN this year. It DOES NOT show Cairns available for adoption on any particular date. While all of our foster dogs for the current year will be listed here, many may not be available for adoption immediately OR AT ALL. Some will be in the process of being adopted, many will be already adopted, and others may be in our "FOSTER TO ADOPT" program. CPCRN evaluates the temperament and health of our dogs prior to any adoption availability and brings them current on their medical needs. Sadly some dogs we take in will NEVER be adopted because of health or temperament issues. PLEASE check the Available Cairns page to check on AVAILABLE dogs. Also, since this is a yearly listing, many on this list may have already been adopted.

Check out the individual links of icons that may appear in a dog's listing.

  • happy endingsAdopted Cairns with a Happy Endings Story will have that linked.
  • Rainbow Bridge Any dog who Crosses the Bridge prior to being adopted will have a link to their special area in Buf's Memorial Garden .
  • Special Needs Red Cross CPCRN also accepts Special Needs dogs for rehabilitation.
  • Other icons are used to show groups rescued together

Special Ones Remembered
Special Memory

One CPCRN program that helps rescue dogs from breeding programs is the Name a Mill Cairn. This is a wonderful way to honor or remember someone that has done something special or who is no long with us. Please consider donating to the Name a Mill Cairn program and give the gift of life for a PM Cairn.

All four of the Special Ones Remembered are from the Name a Mill Cairn program and are in memory of a special one to a CP member.

A Pair of Gems
Gems

All gemstones when they come out of the earth are rough, jagged and lack luster. It takes special care to turn them into beautiful gemstones in jewelry and artwork. Much is the same case with CP's Pair of Gems. Right now they are a little rough and lack luster, but just give them a bath, some grooming, and some TLC and you will see how beautiful they can be.

JB and Ranger were donated names from Sandy Brentlinger and she wrote: "My husband's name was John Brentlinger and he was a Park Ranger with Washington State Parks. His friends called him, JB (John Brentlinger). He passed away May, 1994 following his bone marrow transplant for multiple myeloma, bone marrow cancer - attributed to his exposure to Agent Orange when he served in Viet Nam."

Let's Rock!

These two little girls are the latest in a long line of Cairns that have won their freedom from a PM in the mountains of Georgia. The story changes from time to time, the performers also switch and change periodically, but at the end of the day, it's the same band these girls came from.

City Slickers

Our latest group of Cairns to join the Col. Potter family is also one of the largest single groups to join CP at one time. 28 little Cairns made their way from a life in a PM to find warmth, care and a much needed bath! In honor of the volunteers across the country who make all of this possible, please Welcome the City Slickers!

Hey, Mr. Groundhog!
Groundhog

Three little Cairns no longer have to worry about whether it will be an early spring or six more weeks of winter. But wait, Mr. Groundhog always seems to have one more surprise winter storm before spring finally arrives. CP's Hey Mr. Groundhog group is no different. It's not a surprise winter storm expected, but there are puppies expected with Glacier expected to whelp around March 1!

February is National Pet Dental Health Month
Dental Health Month

Dental health for your pets is very important. Consider homeopathic aids such as Fragaria Vesca (available through CP's Mall), daily brushing, and giving your kids dental chews. Even with these regular dental habits, a yearly checkup for your pet's dental health is crucial. For more information, click here.

IMPORTANT - If you have applied to adopt a cairn from CPCRN, ONLY the dogs listed on the AVAILABLE CAIRNS page are currently available for adoption. You can view all Cairns currently available for adoption here: Available Cairns

PLEASE check the website for the current status and availability. Again, the Available Cairns page is the place to check on AVAILABLE dogs.
