Col. Potter Cairn Rescue Network
Faces of Rescue
January to June 2006
Meet the lucky Cairn Terriers that were brought into Col Potter Cairn Rescue Network in 2006. This is our third year to have a comprehensive listing of all terriers accepted by our rescue group. Our ability to rescue this tremendous amount of Cairns is ONLY due to the hard but rewarding work of our many Volunteers as well as your financial support of our Cairn Rescue Mall, Corporate Affiliate Programs, Grandparent and Guardian Angel Programs as well as the manyDirect Donations with which you have been so generous. Thank you from all of us.

IMPORTANT - If you have applied to adopt a cairn from CPCRN, ONLY the dogs listed on the AVAILABLE CAIRNS page are currently available for adoption. You can view all Cairns currently available for adoption here: Available Cairns

This foster dog pictorial is to show ALL dogs that passed through CPCRN this year. It DOES NOT show Cairns available for adoption on any particular date. While all of our foster dogs for the current year will be listed here, many may not be available for adoption immediately OR AT ALL. Some will be in the process of being adopted, many will be already adopted, and others may be in our "FOSTER TO ADOPT" program. CPCRN evaluates the temperament and health of our dogs prior to any adoption availability and brings them current on their medical needs. Sadly some dogs we take in will NEVER be adopted because of health or temperament issues. PLEASE check the website for the current status and availability. Again, the Available Cairns page is the place to check on AVAILABLE dogs. Also, since this is a yearly listing, many on this list may have already been adopted.

Pleasewelcome the parents-to-be - Ole and Lena.

Now let me tell you a little about the folklore stories of Ole and Lena. Here in the upper midwest, there is a large population of Scandinaviandescendants and comical stories of the life and exploits of Novegean husbandand wife, Ole and Lena. One such story is certainly appropriate for CP'sOle and Lena:

Well, Ole's old lady was pregnant. So, he brought her to the doctor. The doctor delivered the baby. She had a little boy, and the doctor looked overat Ole and said, "Hey, Ole! You just had a son!" Ole got excited by this, but just then the Doctor spoke up and said, "Hold on! We ain't finishedyet!" The doctor then delivered a little girl. He said, "Yumpin' yimminy!Ole, you got a daughter!" Ole was kind of puzzled by this, and then thedoctor says, "Hold on, we ain't finished yet!" The doctor then deliveredanother boy. He said, "Ole, you just had another boy! But dat's it!"

So, Oleand his wife went home with the three children. When they got home, theybegan talking. Ole said, "Mama, you remember that night that we ran out ofVaseline and we had to use dat 3-in-1 Oil." She said, "Yeah". He said, "Bygolly, it's a good thing we didn't use no WD-40!" ...

We can only hope..

We decided to do an article in February on why we love our cairns.

We know there are more reasons than there are cairns.. and that it's so much fun to share these reasons.

See why we LOVE our Cairns

Our newest CP momma-to-be is ... Mancuso. She is going to need all of your prayers as Mancuso is the OLDEST of the olympic girls, having just turned 8 years old in January. This poor girl has probably had 14 or 15 litters of puppies already in her life and her body must be just worn out. The good thing is she will be receiving medical care, healthy food and will be in a warm and safe environment when she whelps this, her LAST litter of pups. It's too early in her pregnancy to tell exactly how far along she is or give an accurate guess as to how many puppies she is carrying, but there are at least two and probably more.

It's Miracle

Miracle got away from his home on Friday, May 19, and was attacked by two pit bulls. The attack left Miracle with a hole 3 inches in diameter on the front of his left front leg which intersects with a hole 1-inch in diameter on the back of his left front leg. The report we received was that his owners opted not to seek medical attention and surrendered him to the shelter.

For those of you who are old enough, or enjoy classic Rock 'N Roll, you'll recognize the classic by Alice Cooper, "School's Out". Some of the lyrics of the song include "School's Out For Summer, School's Out Forever". Well, today TEN little Cairns got out of school that taught them nothing but a life of producing babies in a puppymill!

About those Names
CPCRN gives each intake cairn a unique name. We won't have 10 "Toto"s here. This individual name as well as a Tag ID is used in all paperwork so that our volunteers can uniquely identify all dogs, even years later. We also use Group Names to identify dogs that came in together - generally these are breeder dogs.

None of this means you need to keep the name upon adoption! Remember, most cairns dont really care what you call them, as long as its not

2006 January to June Status

60 dogs were in care on 1/1/2006. Since then we have taken in 164 dogs, and adopted out 132. We have also had two dogs pass away while in foster care. This leaves 90 dogs in foster care at the end of June 2006.

All of the care of these dogs is a result of volunteer activity and your donations. Col. Potter Cairn Rescue Network would like to thank everyone for their contributions of time and money.
