| The Communications Team is the first point of contact for anyone applying to become a foster home or to adopt a Colonel Potter cairn. We like to think of ourselves as the Investigative Team! The Communications Manager reviews all of the applications that are received by Col. Potters and makes the decision if they are to be moved on for reference checks. The application is then moved on to one of the coordinators to call references and vet references. These folks are like cairns - They dig and dig and dig making sure that everything is on the up and up before the application is passed off to the Home Safety Team! To be part of this team you must have strong communication skills -hence the name Communications Team! - and an ability to get references to talk to you without reserve. If you like to talk, we are the team for you and we are always looking for more team members! Click here to meet the members of the Communications team |

A favorite CPCRN celebration is the Cairn Rescue Annual Party (CRAP). Cairns and volunteers alike, after spending the rest of the year communicating only by phone, email, or an occasional stop during a transport, gather from all over the country. There everyone in the organization is able meet and greet newcomers, catch up with old friends, and spend time together. Sometimes our friends living in Canada are able to join us, too. What a happy time to see a herd of happy cairns playing together while their owners, foster homes or adoptive families cheer them on.
This year, more than 50 people and 35+ cairns descended on Keller, Texas at the end of April to spend a long weekend watching the dogs swim, dress up, race, and play together. There was a costume party, a Cairn Derby, blessing of the animals, and the chance for dogs to earn their Canine Good Citizenship Certification. There was even a water ballet event and a chance for the cairns to conquer the waterfall!
For the volunteers there were sales, auctions, and raffles to raise money to help support the rescue effort. There was also a grooming demonstration and an educational event to explain how dogs progress through the CPCRN system all the way from the initial rescue to post adoption when the dogs are settled in their new homes. Also displayed were the Treasure Quilts, made by CPCRN volunteers. These quilts were made for those in the organization that lost everything during last year's hurricanes. On Sunday, the group traveled to Camp Lone Star, a kennel to support Colonel Potter's rescue efforts. At the end of the weekend, another CRAP was over. Everyone that could be had been met, spoken with, and enjoyed. The dogs had played, friendships had been renewed, and everyone returned home, to get back to the working of helping more cairns find safe and happy homes. |

![]() Join with us to create a series of CPCRN Celebration Cairn Quilts this year to help in fundraising for our rescue efforts. These quilts will be in groups of 4, 6, and 12 blocks created by those who want to help, and will be assembled and quilted by crafting members of CPCRN. Of course, anyone who wants to create an entire quilt is more than welcome, but even a single block will move us toward our goal.
